Our team took the first step in mitigating this issue by expanding on a previous hydrology model which included portions of the Lower Santa Cruz River Watershed. We also developed HEC-1 models for two-year to 100-year storm events to test the effectiveness of our proposed solutions. In the end, our recommendation included a multi-phased basin and channel system designed to fit within the County budget and ultimately reduce the flood risk to the community.
