To comply with the City of Phoenix Development Services and Building Safety Departments’ stormwater retention requirements, the Garden had to incorporate stormwater management practices as new facilities are developed. However, retention facilities are also detrimental to the visual experience of the gardensS and underground facilities installed at each exhibit are cost prohibitive.

Entellus developed an offset stormwater retention strategy which collects and stores runoff from an existing parking lot in lieu of new exhibit areas. This approach resulted in the collection of runoff with a higher potential for pollutants while maintaining the same overall discharge flow from the Garden property. This increased the footprint available for exhibits and allowed for a more natural desert presentation.
Entellus met an extremely aggressive schedule to design and build the new retention before our important high visitor season this past winter, and we couldn’t be happier with the result!
