Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) has historically provided storage for ConocoPhillips’ (COP) rail car fleets.

Recently, BNSF re-aligned their business plan to emphasize long-distance trains and discontinue switching services. As a result, Conoco Phillips was required to install capital facilities and engage a third-party operator to provide switching services. The capital improvements included the addition of 15,000 LF of railroad siding and loading racks to allow for the movement of empty and full liquified natural gas (LNG) rail cars into and out of the Wingate loading racks.
As part of this project, Entellus designed the detail of the preferred rail arrangement, created options to situate the appropriate amount of rail, and developed a switch yard operating plan. Additional scope items included specification of materials, cost estimation, purchasing assistance, contractor pre-qualification, construction bidding assistance, and construction phasing and inspection.
